Instagram is quickly becoming one the most effective digital platforms for businesses and sales. This is because it is a marketing tool that exclusively marries two of the most popular and widely accessible features of modern society: Photography and Social Networking.

The app is available on all smartphones, and the interface is simple: you take a photo and share it immediately with your followers, who will like and comment based on the photo’s appeal. And as the saying goes, a picture is worth 1,000 words. On Instagram, however, a good picture (with good filter) can be worth so much more than words: it can bring to your business engaged customers and real profit without the sales pitch.

Almost any business, large or small, can appeal greatly to Instagram users. Regardless of whether you sell products or services, you’ve probably got a goldmine of possibilities when it comes to visual content. For example, photos of your product, vibrant staff, happy customers, or even shots of the recently remodeled restroom (finally!) will capture attention and inspire your followers to stop in for a visit to your online or retail store. Further, the use of a good hashtag will allow new users to find you, or for established customers to submit their own photos of themselves using your product or service. And there is no better marketer for your business than your own happy, beaming clients.

But remember, digital marketing requires a detailed plan and follows establish social networking conventions. You also need an intimate understanding of how to fully engage with Instagram users in order to turn them into real clients.
